Job description

About the role

At VSParticle we are passionate about innovation in nanotechnology for meaningful purposes. We developed a breakthrough technology that enables the generation and deposition of nanoparticles at the push of a button. This allows university researchers and R&D teams across the world to create new materials 10 times faster than with conventional systems and allows industry to produce new products based on these materials! These new material combinations form the basis of revolutionary solutions for highly relevant applications, such as green hydrogen production and sensors for air quality measurements.

From our office in Delft, the Netherlands, we design and develop a portfolio of Nanoparticle Generation and -Printing systems. In our philosophy of seeing is believing, we provide our industrial and academic customers with validation samples. As Laboratory Technician you are responsible for a smooth and fast process to fabricate and deliver nanomaterial samples to these customers. You work closely with the sales and application development teams to collect all new sample requests and align priorities, but also to give your input on what type of sample specifications are feasible.

What will you be doing?

  • Fabrication of material samples using VSP’s nanoparticle printers.
  • Characterizing samples using tools like optical microscopes and SEM.
  • Standardizing the sample preparation process to further increase reproducibility and control quality.
  • Storing samples in a safe, stable and traceable way.
  • Optimising sample packaging for and arranging sample shipment of samples around the world.
  • Working closely with the product support engineer on preventative maintenance to make sure that all systems in the lab remain operational and to prevent unexpected delays.
  • Participating in calls with customers to discuss the sample details.
  • Making sure all consumables are in stock.
  • Suggesting product improvements to product development team.

Job requirements

What do we require from you?

  • A Bachelor’s (HBO) degree in an applicable field, expertise in areas such as EDX, XRD, SEM, and a potential understanding of electrochemistry is highly desirable.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a relevant laboratory environment.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably using characterization tools (microscope, SEM etc.)
  • Able to safely lift 10kg several times per day.
  • Available 32-40 hours per week.
  • Basic programming skills, e.g. in Python are a plus.
  • Attention to detail, service-minded, team player, strong in planning & organization.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.

Why should you join VSParticle?

We are a fast-growing startup where you can contribute to revolutionize materials development, enabling researchers to find solutions for some of the largest planetary challenges (e.g., green hydrogen production, fuel cell development). We are based in a modern office with state of the art lab facilities in the centre of Delft, but also offer possibilities for hybrid work.

We have a non-hierarchical organisational structure with a diverse and international group of colleagues. You can join the daily free lunch and participate to the regular social events we organize.

Next to a good salary, we offer participation in our pension scheme, 30 holidays, travel allowance, a personal development budget and the possibility to lease a bicycle (yes, we are a Dutch company 😊).
