Job description

At VSPARTICLE, we are passionate about innovation in nanotechnology for meaningful purposes. We are a fast-growing scale-up where you can contribute to revolutionizing materials development, enabling researchers to find solutions for some of the largest planetary challenges. From our office in Delft, the Netherlands, we designed and developed a portfolio of Nanoparticle Generation and -Printing systems. Our current systems are research tools, allowing university researchers and R&D teams across the world to create new materials 10 times faster than with conventional systems! These new material combinations form the basis of revolutionary solutions for highly relevant applications, such as green hydrogen production and gas sensors. Our tools are also the robust foundation for self-driving labs. Beyond developing next-generation research modules, we are also working towards an industrial-scale machinery system to target the electrolyzer market.

We are looking for a dedicated Working Student - Electronics Assembly & Testing to join our growing Operations team! The main focus of this role will be supporting the production supply chain by building Logic PCB Assemblies and other subcomponents. As a working student at VSPARTICLE, one of your main responsibilities will be gaining hands-on experience with electronics in a high-tech environment.

Responsibilities

  1. Assembly Support

  • Assist in the assembly of Logic Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), including soldering, component placement, and wiring.

  • Assist in the assembly of other electronic components and subassemblies as needed, such as controllers for gas and nanoparticle generators (VSP-G1).

  • Perform visual inspections of assembled boards to identify defects or issues.

  • Help with inventory management of parts and components, ensuring the workshop has the necessary materials for ongoing tasks.

2. Electronics Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Help with the functional testing of PCBs and assembled products to ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues or component failures in prototypes or production units.

3. Documentation and Reporting

  • Document assembly processes, component specifications, and test results to maintain accurate records.

  • Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding progress, issues, and any suggestions for process improvement.

4. Collaboration and Learning

  • Work closely with engineers and other technicians to learn about different aspects of electronics assembly and testing.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the department.

Job requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Electrical/Electronics engineering background or similar: Understanding of circuit theory, components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, etc.), and their function in a circuit.

  • Experience with PCB assembly: Some previous hands-on experience in PCB assembly, whether in school labs, internships, or personal projects.

  • Use of tools and equipment: Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and heat guns.

  • Safety awareness: Understanding of safety protocols in a workshop or assembly environment.
